Barbara Jean Morgan

Barbara "Jean" Morgan, 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 29, 2025. Born on June 26, 1942, in Alton, Alabama, Barbara was a mother, grandmother, and cherished sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Sam Payne and Mary Payne; her sons, Sylvester Morgan and Paul Morgan; granddaughter Erica Morgan; and sisters Ruth Johnson, Rosetta Coleman, and Berlinda Odon.

Barbara is survived by her son, Roosevelt Morgan, Sr. of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandsons, Roosevelt Morgan, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama an Shannon Morgan of Gadsden, Alabama; and two beloved great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Theodore Payne (Patricia) Holly, Michigan, Samuel Payne (Patricia) Leeds, Alabama, Diana Robinson (Ronnie) Detroit, Michigan, Faye Goudy (Frank) Birmingham, Alabama, Phyllis Peterson (Walter) Vincent, Alabama and brother in law Olin Odom of Barnwell, South Carolina as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and friends.

Barbara found joy in caring for her family, especially by keeping her relatives' children. She had a passion for word searches and enjoyed assembling puzzles. These activities brought her peace and contentment.

Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering love and her unique sense of humor.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Annie Gosha for her unwavering care and compassion during Barbara's final days. Her dedication provided comfort and peace to Barabara and her loved ones, and for that, we are deeply thankful.

We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Aveanna Hospice care team for their compassion, support, and care during Jean's final days their dedication ensured that Jean's transition was filled with dignity and comfort, and their presence brought comfort to our family during this challenging time.
